Dealing with Grief is a spiritual process

I’ve known Margherita for a good number of years now and I love how our paths continue to cross in this global online world. Spiritual healing is something we have in common and each time I meet with Margherita, I notice her grounded presence and immediately feel connected with her. Science has shown that everything is energy and I’d have to say that we have a similar ‘vibe’ (I love how what we intuitively knew in the 60s and 70s is now being proven by modern science.)

I was delighted when Margherita asked me to write about my program for her new website. I believe that spiritual healing and therapy tools, if used more frequently, could facilitate major shifts in world peace. For this to happen, we need to make peace within ourselves first. As each individual comes to fully accept themselves without judgement, then so it will follow that we will no longer judge others and world peace will ensue. Sounds easy? 😉

Let’s look at ourselves honestly; can you say that you do not judge yourself? If we want to heal, it’s time to start paying attention to our habitual thoughts and behaviours and release self-judgement.

Return to PeaceThis is the first step of My PEACE Process; The“P” in PEACE stands for presence. When we are present we notice, with a gentle, non-judgemental observance, what is going on around and inside of ourselves. We use the practice of attention to breath to facilitate this process.

Deep healing can begin when we take the time to notice our moment-to-moment thoughts about things. When we start catching ourselves in judgement, which is almost always triggered by unresolved fears, this opens a doorway to inner exploration. When we take time to explore inwards (and I show women how to do this in a safe comfortable way), what we find hidden away is not as bad as we imagined it to be.

Fears that trigger us to fight, flight, or freeze, can be noticed and explored. This act in itself, turning us to look at fear instead of running from it, diminish the power our fear has over us.

But, who takes time to stop and explore their fears and overwhelming feelings? When most of us are triggered, something happens biologically that activates strong feelings making us feel uncomfortable and shuts down our frontal lobe (the area of the brain in charge of higher thinking). Our primitive body then takes over to protect ourselves (as was necessary in our biological past) and we jump into auto-pilot and revert to our habitual coping mechanism with is usually one of the three: fight (argue), flight (leave) or freeze (shut down).

Now if instead of feeling like “Good grief, why does this always happen to me?” we saw it as an opportunity to heal, would this not make a difference?  This is where I believe the Divine IS intervening – it’s a way of saying “Hey, you haven’t figured this one out yet so I’m going to continue put it in front of you until you learn to approach it like the Divine being that you are.”

spiritual healingBeing human means feeling deeply. Why are we so quick to avoid strong feelings? Maybe we were told not to cry, not to get angry, to be a good girl and smile when we felt like crying and screaming?

The bittersweet part, I believe, is that these uncomfortable situations arise because they need to be healed. They are in fact a gift from a higher power presenting us with an opportunity to try again. If our reactions are hurting and not helping us, may it be that there is an easier way?

My PEACE Process teaches an easier way to deal with grief and loss

It gently guides women on an inner journey where they connect with who they really are at core, their Divine self, the person they were born to be, the person they were before they had fears. Once reconnected to this inner place of peace (which we all have waiting quietly inside us) we are capable of doing the inner work to explore and unearth subconscious fears that have been holding us back from living a life full of love and wonder. It is from here that you are guided to re-write your story from the perspective of your Divine higher self; it is from this place of peace that you revisit each of the things that trigger you and decide from your place of deep inner knowing how you will act the next time this happens.

Science has proven that the brain does not know the difference between when we imagine ourselves doing something and when we actually do it (this is why athletes are coached to imagine themselves performing great feats before the big event).

Scientifically we are re-wiring our brains to connect with a higher level of thinking, doing, and being and this allows us to release old habits and shift into higher and more joyous levels of consciousness.
